Mission Statement
WITESOL is a professional association of teachers of English to speakers of other languages in Wisconsin. It is dedicated to improve the quality or existing English-as-a-Second Language, English-as-a-Second Dialect, Bilingual and Bicultural programs, and to assist in the formulation and establishment of new programs at all levels of education in the state of Wisconsin.
WITESOL supports educators by: 1) providing members with opportunities to discuss innovations and issues found in the areas related to the teaching of ESL, ESD, and Bilingual and Bicultural Education. 2) furthering the professional development of those concerned with ESL, ESD, and Bilingual and Bicultural Education within the areas served by this organization. 3) promoting fellowship among its members. ________________________________________ These documents govern and guide the organization’s decision-making process • The Constitution The constitution should be a concise and lasting document. Changing the constitution should require a vote by the full membership of WSST. • Position Statements As an affiliate of the Teachers of Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), WITESOL endorses TESOL’s position statements.
